 Bengaluru, 27 February 2017 – Vivek Chaand Sehgal of the Motherson Sumi Systems Limited (MSSL), the flagship company of Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG), was today named the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2016. The awards were presented by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines and Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, who were the Guests of Honor. Shri Piyush Goyal and Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman also presented awards across nine categories in the presence of over 400 guests including eminent business leaders.

Vivek Chaand Sehgal will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) in Monte Carlo from 7-11 June 2017. The EOY is the only global business award program in the world and is now in its 18th year in India.

 Mr. Nandan Nilekani was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his invaluable contribution to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) – the Aadhaar initiative, which is a pioneering citizen identification program, unparalleled in scope and scale worldwide. As the Honorary Advisor to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), he has also helped create the ecosystem for digital financial services in India. He has also played a major role in the growth of the Indian Information Technology industry and is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honor, in 2009.

Pawan Hans and Airbus Helicopters renew maintenance partnership

Bengaluru, 15 February 2017 – Airbus Helicopters has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) appointing the Indian helicopter operator as Airbus Helicopters’ approved maintenance centre for the Dauphin and Ecureuil rotorcraft. The MoU has the provision to enlarge Pawan Hans’ scope of maintenance services in the future to include other Airbus helicopter types.

“We are proud to be the world’s largest civil operator of Dauphin fleet and to be its leading maintenance services provider in India. Over the years we have enjoyed a great partnership with Airbus Helicopters,” said Dr. B P Sharma, Chairman & MD, Pawan Hans Limited. “We would like to take our partnership a notch higher by extending our maintenance services portfolio to more Airbus helicopter types and increase our geographical coverage to SAARC countries.”

 Pawan Hans, the world’s largest operator of the civil Dauphin fleet, has 34 Airbus helicopters of which 32 are Dauphin and 2 are Ecureuil. Pawan Hans’ maintenance base for the Dauphin is located in Mumbai.

Annual Student’s Showcase – Sounds of Music

 Bangalore, February 7th 2017: The annual student showcase of The Bangalore School, Whitefield was an hour-long performance by 125 students that left parents and guests in awe of the children’s talents. Hosted at the MLR Convention Hall, this performance is a culmination of 4 streams of arts that are inculcated into the students’ curriculum.

 Right from the start of the academic year, music, to which is choreographed original dances is taught and rehearsed. Performing arts are shaped into plays which are supported in the form of props from the art students. This year, with Sounds of Music as the theme, the show was a blend of Bollywood and Kollywood music, along with dances, plays and a display of percussion sounds. In the five years of its operations, The Bangalore School has won several awards and recently has been ranked as number one preschool under the preschool category by Education Today.


 Speaking on the immense work that went into the creation of this showcase, Ms Usha Iyer, director of The Bangalore School says, “The show was the fruit of a long year of hard work from the teachers and students. Every one of our students was on stage and felicitated as well. This added to their joy of being a part of such a large performance. Parents and students had the opportunity to capture memories at the photo booth organized outside the hall. We believe in incorporating the arts into our curriculum and work on the strong points of each student. Their role in the show is based on their specific interests”.

The union budget will lead to stable economic growth.  Budget clearly indicates that no income tax needs to be paid for upto Rs 3 lakh of annual income, which is a boon for teachers.  However we expected more relief for salaried class. We can’t call it a land mark budget.
