Fortis La Femme advocates thought leadership by holding clinical sessions on Challenges in Women’s Health

April 29, 2017, Bengaluru – Fortis La Femme organized a Continued Medical Education (CME) program to discuss various health challenges faced by women. The event took place on 28th April, 2017 in Bengaluru. A team of world renowned doctors including Dr Prathima Reddy MBBS, MRCOG (London), FRCOG (London), FACOG (USA) and Dr. ArunaMuralidhar, MD MRCOG, were present there to share insights on topics such as reducing caesarean rates and risk assessment in routine antenatal care.

The main objective of this CME is to edifythe industry experts, including eminent gynecologists and general physicians, of many health related challenges faced by women today. The program offered a platform of knowledge and sharing to bring together the brightest minds in the profession. Experts discussed their findings and shared observations to help enhance understandings of key relevant health issues like ‘Overview of Breast Diseases’, Urinal Incontinence’ and ‘The NICU Journey’ among others.

Fortis La Femme, Richmond Road, which opened October 2016 in Bengaluru, was the second hospital under the La Femme brand of hospitals, which currently has presence in 3 cities and has plans to expand across India, this year. Indus Training and Research Institute (ITARI) hosts Graduation Ceremony 2017 for its Teacher graduates

Indus Training and Research Institute (ITARI), a faculty training institute established under the aegis of Indus Trust, hosted its Graduation Ceremony 2017 marking a successful culmination of a cohort of 100+ teacher graduates across its program offerings.

ITARI was established with an understanding of the current needs encompassing higher education in the areas of pedagogic training, research and the professional development of teachers. ITARI offers well crafted pre-service and in-service Post Graduate programs to equip and enable the trainees to pursue a career in International and IB schools.

The Graduation Ceremony was hosted in the ITARI Auditorium, ITARI block within the Indus International School campus. The Ceremony was presided by Lt. General (Retired) Arjun Ray, CEO, Indus International Schools- Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune; and Prof. Simon Spencer, Deputy Head, School of Education, Birmingham City University, UK and Mrs. Sarojini Rao, Principal- Indus International School, Bangalore who awarded diplomas and certificates to the graduating teachers and felicitated teacher mentors. The Ceremony commenced with lighting of the lamp by the distinguished guests and a beautiful invocation followed by an address by the CEO and Prof. Simon Spencer.

Lt. General Arjun Ray, CEO, Indus Trust in his address to the trainee graduates  emphaised that knowledge resides in communities and individuals, knowledge is collaborative and deep reading is the only way that let’s u do collaborative thinking.

Critical.. multi disciplinary and big picture is important.

Focus on winnning the war … don’t worry about loosing tactical battles.

This dissonance creates unlearning and that is of prime importance to pursue a higher purpose and serve society at large.

Dr. Sridarshan Koundinya, Director- ITARI reflected on the past year and presented a report on the batch diversity, collaborations and placements. Since its inception in 2009, around 900 teachers have been trained by ITARI (530 in-service Teachers and 270 pre-service Teachers). 180 ITARI Graduates have been offered jobs by Indus Schools across, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore. There has been 100% placements thus far for ITARI and our graduate teachers have been offered jobs in Indus schools and other IB, International schools of repute PAN India.

Indus Training and Research Institute offers Post Graduate Diploma in International Education (PGDIE – full time 10 months), Post Graduate Certificate in International Education (PGCIE – full time 6 months) and Cambridge International Diploma (CIDTL – part time – 1-2 years). All programmes are international Teacher Certification programmes accredited and recognized by British Universities. ITARI developed collaborations with University of Bath and IBO (for MA-IBEC), University of Glasgow, UK (for research), Cambridge International Examinations (CIE, UK – for in-service Diploma), and Birmingham City University, UK (for pre-service Diploma).



CREDAI to Mark Labour Day with Fun and Games for Labourer Families across Member Projects

CREDAI-Bengaluru to show appreciate for year old efforts by organizing and day of fun and relaxation for labourers across member projects in the city.

Bangalore, April 25th 2017: It is a long weekend that everybody is looking forward to. May Day or Labour Day is universally celebrated as May 1st2017 as a day to take a break from the monotony of the daily work routine. CREDAI-Bengaluru recognizes that such a day of relaxation is certainly due for all the labourers across its member projects. In light of this, the organization has planned a day filled with fun, games and good food for all labourers and their families, across member projects in the city at the Mount Carmel College Grounds in Vasanthnagar. CREDAI-Bengaluru expects around 900 labourers to be a part of this celebration.

Organized as part of the CSR activities taken up by CREDAI, the day-long event will open with a formal function and will be inaugurated at 8 AM. Gates to the venue will open an hour in advance to ensure that all families arrive in time to attend the formal function.

Activities at the event will include sporting events such as sack race, running races, shot put and long jump. It is a fact that there is great anticipation among workers for this event and a number of informal practices are on across the city and various sites, during off hours. The activities for the day will be followed by lunch and a felicitation ceremony for the distribution of prizes.

Apart from food all participants are given useful gift from the association. Invariably it’s utensils or carry bags which are badly needed fir their day to day usage .

“We see construction happening around us all the time. Most labourers on these sites work tirelessly and at most times invisibly to get a project up and ready for inauguration. They are often forgotten about soon after. We believe that we owe to them at least one day where we show our appreciation for all that they do and the hard conditions they work and live in with their families,” says Suresh Hari, Secretary, CREDAI Bengaluru.



Fun-filled activities planned for a summer blast

Bengaluru, April 25, 2017: It’s that time of the year that kids eagerly wait for – summer vacations. While some enjoy the trips to their hometown, others enjoy the leisure of waking up late. For many kids, the most exciting part of the vacations is the summer camps where they can practice their hobby. Sesame Street Preschool in Bengaluru has planned an exciting annual summer camp, KALAKRITI. The camp started in April, 2017 is taking place in Sesame Street Preschools situated in Sarjapur, Yelahanka, HSR Layout, Kaggadasapura and Basavanagudi. This year at Camp Sesame, kids are exploring and experiencing different professions like budding artist, chefs, discoverers and farmers.

Camp Sesame is designed for children aged 2 to 8 years and. During the camp children are engaged in age-appropriate art techniques as they work with colours, shapes, textures, designs and forms as they create their own masterpieces.  They are learning various art techniques using both conventional and non-conventional medium like paper, paint, foam, starch etc. There are sessions on no fire cooking which will help children develop an understanding of making healthy food choices and expose them to numeracy concepts of weight, measure etc. The Khojak,(Little Discoverers) programme introduce children to the ever engaging world of science with age-appropriate fun experiments. This gives them a hands-on, project-based learning where they discover the, ‘what’, ‘why’ and ‘how’s’ of their world. The urban farming programme- Bagbani encourages children to be the little environmentalist while it exposes them to create their own indoor farms, engage in nature crafts, recycle and reuse resources. All these programmes will be interwoven with lots of play, games, songs and dances.
