The University of Delaware hosts its alumni gathering in Bangalore.

28th August 2022, Bangalore: The University of Delaware, a public, tier-1 research university ranked in the top 100 national universities and top 50 public universities, hosted a stellar evening of its first ever alumni meeting in Bangalore. The University had organised a similar event recently in Hyderabad.

The University of Delaware, which is a home to over 1300 international students is considered among the top 20 colleges in the US. It offers undergraduate students 150 majors, with its best majors being engineering, business, and the sciences. 23 graduate programmes from the University of Delaware were listed among the top 100 in the country in the 2023 edition of Best Graduate Schools by U.S. News and World Report, with 10 of those programmes placed in the top 50.

With its commitment of being a global university, the University of Delaware was the first American university to start a study abroad programme, and many other universities soon followed. In terms of international enrolments, the university has the second highest number of students from India. The alumni gathering was planned not just to commemorate and re-connect with alumni, but also to give prospective Indian students interested in studying abroad a great insight of the university. On this occasion, University of Delaware alumni from India and abroad shared their memories of studying at the university and how the university and its faculty have contributed to their personality and career development.

At the outset, Dr. Song Hoffman, Director of International Admissions, and Prof. Rick Andews, Senior Associate Dean at the Lerner College of Business and Economics; Kristian Graves and Meaghan Hoghan, Associate Vice Presidents for Development; Dr. Ravi Ammigan, Associate Provost for International Programs; and Jamila Shaikh, University Representative (India) welcomed the alumni.

Graduates from various departments of the university gathered to rejoice and reflect on their experiences as university students. The alumni who attended the meet were placed not just in India but also in other countries throughout the world as corporate executives, administrative leaders, bureaucrats, and policymakers.

Sharing her thoughts, Dr. Song Hoffman, Director of International Admissions, said, “For University of Delaware’s recruitment efforts, India has been a top market thanks to its high academic caliber students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Speaking of the university as one of Indian students’ top overseas study destinations, Prof. Rick Andews, Senior Associate Dean at the Lerner College of Business and Economics, said, “The University of Delaware is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university offering 150 undergraduate programs and over 200 graduate programs though seven academic colleges—Agriculture and Natural Resources; Arts and Sciences, Earth, Ocean, and Environment; Education and Human Development; Engineering; Health Sciences; and Lerner College of Business and Economics. UD is also home to the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration, named after the 46th president of the United States, Joseph R. Biden.”

Prior to the meeting, representatives from the university attended the International Career and Counseling Movement (IC3) annual conference, which was also held in Hyderabad. There, they spoke with representatives from higher education and met new international students who will be attending the University of Delaware this fall semester.

The University of Delaware has a lot of notable alumni such as Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. , 46th, current President of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, the current first lady of the United States, Chris Christie, the former governor of New Jersey, Henry C. Brinton, the director of NASA’s research division, and Richard F. Heck (Organic Chemistry).

A Kaleidoscope of fashion, film & design events mark OPEN DAYS at LISAA School of Design-Expert panelists share ideas on AR and VR in fashion.

Bangalore, 22nd August 2022 : LISAA School of Design managed by CREO Valley School of Film and Television , Bangalore, hosted a two day event “OPEN DAYS”, showcasing the work of students from various departments. The event was a kaleidoscope of fashion, film & design .
A fashion show with a unique theme “My Life” was held on the first day for which the design inspiration came from transformation garments to depict how “Self Image” is so different from what we portray to others. The students showcased a range of vibrant outfits, with a total of 80 garments. There was an interactive display of fabric and textile, showcasing various embroideries and fabrics of India.
There was a panel discussion on how Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality have brought about a revolution of sorts in the realm of fashion and design. Expert panelists shared ideas on the same.

The major highlight was application of Augmented Reality (AR) & Virtual Reality (VR) Animation, Metaverse and Virtual Production. The use of AR/VR in fashion allows reduced wastage while putting together a garment. With the technology boom, designing for someone can be done sitting anywhere around the world. With various softwares such as Unity, Clo3D it has become easy to mimic the garments, exact qualities, fall and texture .
This year’s theme “Science & Art” depicted some of the Art installations, Kinetic
Sculptures, Fashion collection inspired by hockey “One man army” to depict the fighter spirit of being a champion. A few other were unique typopraphy project which was inspired by Yakshagana, the folk art of Karnataka was included and Navrasa based installasions.

Commenting on this event Avi Keswani, Co-Founder &; Director, LISAA School of Design Bangalore said “We are happy and excited to set the stage open again for our students. We have the OPEN DAYS event every year but for the past 3 years we could not do anything special. Now with this event our graduating batch got an opportunity to showcase their innovative work which was thoroughly
appreciated and enjoyed.”
A photography exhibition on Saturday showcased some excellent portraits and landscapes being captured by the students. Gracing the event, renowned film actress, Ms Sonu Gowda, said “I’m so thrilled to
be a part of this event.

It is heart warming to see the passion with which 😂these students have created .”
There were also over 20 short films screened during the event which were directed by the institute students.

Ruchi Kohli, Head, Partner Management, Meta mentioned about how brands can drive profitable
growth with Meta.
Anand Iyer, Manager, Google Customer Solutions spoke on driving profitability and scale with
Google.
